Three of the major wildfires in Washington which together make up the Spokane Area Fire had burned more than 7700 acres and remained 0% contained as of the morning of August 3.

Satellite imagery and photos taken from the region show the destruction wrought by the wildfires in agonizing detail; comparing images of neighborhoods along West Pine Cliff and West Holyoke Avenue in Spokane before and after the fires show entire subdivisions reduced to blackened husks, with the fires spreading rapidly from one building to another through the dry grasses and woods.
